May Day

03 May 1999

Here I am on my Bank Holiday May Day. There has been superb weather all weekend. You may ask am I at the beach, a stately home perhaps. Nope I am in my cellar re-installing Windows 98, to allow my computer to connect to the Web. You see yesterday I un-installed something I did not have. Windows flipped and decided it did not have a modem anymore. Well some parts knew they had a modem and other parts could not see it. To cut a long story short a total re-install of Windows 98 was the soloution. With my C: Drive freshley formatted and '98 reistalled I am back. Sunday is the day for computer fairs round here and Yesterday there was one near Maidstone. As my brother Graham was here we decided we would go for a look. I got a DVD drive. I now have a nice shinny new DVS 6 Speed DVD drive. One day I may even have a DVD to put in it. Anyway one benefit is this drive does have a digital output and it works a treat with my Sound Blaster Live!. Best sound from my PC yet ! As mentioned above my brother Graham came for a visit with his two sons Andrew and Mathew. A good time was had by one and all. On Saturday we had a very pleasant swim, went to Mac Donalds for lunch. Later we visited Rochester going to the Castle and the town where there was a May Day Festival on. The day was finished off with a game of Totopaly, a Horse racing game. Mandy one well done. Sunday started with a boot fair as is normal. Graham and Simon then went to the computer fair while the children played. We had Roast Pork for lunch. The afternoon was spent in the garden. A quiet evening in capped of a great day.
